The new M700 Tablet PC incorporates innovative technologies such as the proprietary Toshiba fingerprint system, automatic detection capabilities and repair of faults and mechanism to safeguard confidential data through encryption technology and digital signatures, among others.
Toshiba through its Computer Systems Division introduced the latest technology announcing their new Portégé M700, an ultraportable notebook, with high performance, latest Intel Centrino vPro processor technology and convertible to function of Tablet PC.
The Tablet PC system provides the user benefits such as taking notes, enter text, navigate or interact with the screen using a stylus or through touch. It also rotates to facilitate the submission in meetings, using the equipment standing and removing the barrier of the screen facilitating communication.

Portégé M700 has a storage capacity of 160 GB Serial ATA, 4 GB of RAM memory, option of original Windows Vista Business Edition or original Windows XP Professional Edition operating systems (as a recovery support on DVD-ROM), and an advanced security protection for the keyboard against liquid spills (up to 100 ml. coffee, soft drinks, water, beer), and impact of falls of up to 1 meter in height from the four sides and 0.75 m. at the top/interior thanks to the integration of a anti-bump chassis.
The notebook has the BitLocker technology for Drive Encryption, built into the operating system of Microsoft Windows Vista to safeguard confidential data through encryption technology and digital signatures to guarantee the integrity and privacy of content.
After reviewing all the “new design” and “new technologies” features, I don´t really find anything new compared to an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad. All of these technologies (except the processor since this is a recent announcement from Intel) where first developed by IBM and integrated into the ThinkPad a couple of years ago, specially the spill resistant keyboard, encryption system and fingerprint technology.
If you are or have been a ThinkPad user, you perfectly know to what I’m referring…
