Searches current images were far from perfection. The conference World Wide Web Conference held in Beijing, China, Google showed how to improve graphics searches.
By using the same technology as the system uses Google to search for text, image searches can yield results more relevant.
The new technology is called Visual Rank, and is currently in beta stage. Results of searches of traditional images are based solely on the text that users themselves used to describe them. The new technology incorporates an algorithm to search and select the best photographs.
Page Rank for Product Image Search is one of the functions that Google is testing internally these days. In its database existed around 2000 images of products such as iPod, Xbox and Zune.
In presenting its prototype, conducted a Google search of the best 10 photographs contained in the database, comparing it with the current system of Google image search. According to the company, the new system delivers 83% more relevant results.
