Embarrassing Start For Google’s Rival

The frontal attack against Google, which tried to portray the creators of Cuil, has lost its strength due to a serious mistake.

Jonathan Grattage, an expert in quantum physics, was amazed to see the results of Cuil when searching his name. The result is accompanied by a photograph of an American soldier and two men having sex.

The British publication “The Register” requested a comment to Cuil, who replied that the photographs are intended to help users find material that interests them.

In an e-mail, Cuil explains that “offers to users the opportunity to consider the results looking at a picture, instead of having to read 200 words.” Such functionality poses a great challenge, nor Google has succeeded so far resolving this satisfactorily. “We have had progress, but much remains to go,” writes Vince Sollitto, in charge of public relations at Cuil.

Cuil explained that the image of homosexuals was included among the results due to “a massive search activity.”

Both photographs have been eliminated from the search engine, after the consultation made by The Register.

The search engine has also been ridiculed by name. According to the company itself, Cuil is an Irish name for “wisdom”. But according to The Register, Cuil also is a former Irish voice to “back”.
