The frontal attack against Google, which tried to portray the creators of Cuil, has lost its strength due to a serious mistake.
Jonathan Grattage, an expert in quantum physics, was amazed to see the results of Cuil when searching his name. The result is accompanied by a photograph of an American soldier and two men having sex.
The British publication “The Register” requested a comment to Cuil, who replied that the photographs are intended to help users find material that interests them.
In an e-mail, Cuil explains that “offers to users the opportunity to consider the results looking at a picture, instead of having to read 200 words.” Such functionality poses a great challenge, nor Google has succeeded so far resolving this satisfactorily. “We have had progress, but much remains to go,” writes Vince Sollitto, in charge of public relations at Cuil.
Cuil explained that the image of homosexuals was included among the results due to “a massive search activity.”
Both photographs have been eliminated from the search engine, after the consultation made by The Register.
The search engine has also been ridiculed by name. According to the company itself, Cuil is an Irish name for “wisdom”. But according to The Register, Cuil also is a former Irish voice to “back”.

Kaspersky Labs has detected two new variants of a worm, Networm.Win32.Koobface.a. and Networm.Win32.Koobface.b, that attack users of MySpace and Facebook respectively. As a result, worms convert the computers of victims in zombie machines that comes part of a botnet network.
Although worms only attack users of MySpace and Facebook, Kaspersky Lab experts warn that are designed to download additional malicious code across the Internet. It is very likely that infected machines are used not only for sending links across social networks, but also be used for other purposes equally malicious.
NetWorm.Win32.Koobface.a spreads when a user accesses his account on MySpace and from that moment, the worm creates a series of comments and messages distributed to all your contacts. For its part, Net-Worm.Win32.Koobface.b attacks Facebook users and send spam messages to the list of friends of the person whose machine had been infected.
The messages and comments submitted through MySpace and Facebook are very striking and include a link to Youtube. [Skip]. Pl. If the recipient clicks on this link, is redirected to http / / youtube. [Skip]. Ru, a website which allegedly contains a video clip. But when trying to watch the video, a message in which it warns that there is a need to download the latest version of Flash Player and, when trying to do is download a network worm called codesetup.exe. As a result, users who have accessed the Web through Facebook have downloaded the worm attacking MySpace, and vice versa.
“Unfortunately, users rely too much on the messages they receive from their friends in social networks, thus the likelihood that click on a link is very high,” says Alexander Gostev, an analyst at Kaspersky Virus Labs. “Early 2008, which would target an increase in attacks on these networks, like MySpace and Facebook, and now this is evidence. I am convinced that this is only the first step and that the creators of viruses continue to exploit these networks with greater intensity. “

In order to increase scalability and access to archived information, Hitachi Data Systems, announced that investigators from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, are using the Hitachi Platform for content files for searching and retrieve scientific information about the atmosphere in a faster way.
An integral component of the strategy Services Oriented Storage Solutions of the Hitachi Content Archive Platform, which are scalable archiving delivery services that ensure the protection and preservation of information for a long term, also provides a search and quick recovery method to the valuable data of the proposed high performance of the NASA for the Data Processing System and the Ozone Monitoring Instrument.
“The information that is difficult to obtain or very slow access hinders our investigation, so we wanted to find a technology that automates archiving and expedite the search and retrieval of the database, with an easy way to access the hard drive,” said Curt Tilman, scientific computation of NASA. “The biggest benefit of the Hitachi Content Archive Platform is that we can introduce our information and retrieve the same data without experiencing the latency of an infrastructure based on tape.”
To ensure that researchers can retrieve critical information safely and on time, NASA chose to upgrade their old data storage systems, which are frequently accessed for the files that are accessed less. Researchers at NASA needed a procedure that took less time for data recovery and to endure the failures of systems without loss of information, so as to prevent operators when erase data inadvertently. NASA selected the Hitachi Content Archive Platform to consolidate recovery and dynamic view of 70 terabytes of information.
“The unique approach of content services for storing and managing data of Hitachi, is helping customers in all industries to improve utilization of existing information infrastructure of data centers, and thus reduce the waste and applications in sleep associated with replacements of systems, “said Alejandro Lomelín of Hitachi Data Systems.
